Lifted have not been able to have a staff working away since before covid or with the current core team who joined after covid.
We put so much of ourselves into looking after those who attend Lifted whilst also being carers ourselves. We needed our team away day to be something more meaningful that would allow us to relax and open up as a team.
We arranged a camping and self-reflection overnight trip with Sorrel and Sage in Wales followed by a day planning for 2026 and forward.
We spent the day foraging and helping cook around an open fire, we made crafted items and home made drinks. We spent time relaxing in hammocks just breathing and listening to the wind and the animals all around us. We spent time with the host who was able to help tackle our personal barriers to help us be open and trusting with each other. Who gave us such positive affirmations that would resonate with us as a team but also as individuals and the challenges we face on a daily basis.
“You reminded me what is important and how to reconnect with nature and how to ground myself and to allow myself time to step away and come back with calmer thoughts and feelings. Today I became the change I wanted to be, I became the pebble.” Staff feedback
Kate and Sue also went off on a wonder to capture more photos for the photography course, yes they brought their homework with them.
The team spent the evening around a camp fire talking and laughing and just being ourselves, it was a wonderful reminder to block out the noise and distractions that comes with the work that we do everyday
Some of us were brave enough to even camp outside in the woods in tents.
The next morning our host kindly made us breakfast in her house and then opened her dining room up for the team to look back at the year and if we could, what changes would we want to make for 2026 and going forward.
Emma and the committee took all our notes and feedback with them and started to make those changes
