Lifted hosted an amazing carers day event.
It was held on Monday 9th June 2025 and it was a whole day event
We put on a full day of events and activities, which included:
- Beauty treatments
- Arts and Crafts
- Key speakers
- Drumming Circle
- Buffet
- Ice cream van
Beauty Treatment
We offered 30 beauty treatment sessions to our carers throughout the day. They had a variety of treatments that they could pick from, which were put together by two lovely women who run Unwind – holistic treatments & Moss Magick Retreat
- Neck massage
- Hand massage
- Facial
- Make up
- Manicure
- Pedicure
It was so moving to see the stress just wipe away from our carers faces after being able to have this experience.
The beauty team, spent time relaxing and calming each carer and they talked them through the whole process and gifted them with samples that they had used during the treatment.
“This brought me to tears, I was given treats to go home with by the beauty team and it reminded me the importance of me time”
“Lifted, I don’t know the last time I have my nails coloured, look how beautiful they are. Thank you so much!”
Arts and Crafts
Lifted throughout the day had a rang of crafts for carers to take part in.
- A card for another carer
- A brick in the wall
- Carers Office Wall Art.
We hosted 50 carers who had access to our arts and crafts table.
We set up a stall, where carers could write a message to another carer in a card that they had decorated and written in.
The idea is when we are having a bad day, what words would pick us up, what would we like to hear? The cards were then put into a box and carers were given one at random when they left along with a mini wellness hamper gift set that we created for them.
- Hand cream
- Lip Balm
- Face mask
- Affirmation cards
- Chocolates
My message I have in my card says:
“You are strength, you are joy, you are the backbone of the family and you are the love that is shown in your childs face”
We also created a brick wall, where cares could write the one main barrier that they face as a carer that we at Lifted could help tackle to ease their worries.
- “Not having to repeat myself at appointments, just read the note before the appointment”
- “Not having to fight for support, its an ongoing battle everyday”
- “A reminder that I am a person as well as a carer.”
- “Stop judging me, I’m doing my best”
- “Access to short breaks”
We also created two display wall art pieces, each carer had a square on a canvas that they got to paint and write their names on, we now have our carers names on our office wall as a reminder who we support every day.
Music and key speakers
During the second half of the day we had about 20 carers who took part in a drumming circle event with drum therapy circle who put on a session for our carers to come together and relax through music.
Prior to the session when we were all sat in a group, our carers took time to share their experiences as a carer with others and to hear reassurance from other carers that their battle is not a battle that they are facing on their own.
It’s places like Lifted that allow carers to come together to share and support each other.
“I’m new to being a carer for a SEND child. I have so many questions everything is new to me and there was not one place that I could go to and just ask, what do I do next? Now I have lifted. I can call and know the team will pick up and help me, I can pop in on a Monday and know all the carers are there to help with advice. I now know why you say #LiftedFamily”
Lunch and Ice cream.
We provided a buffet for our carers for the day. They also arrived to Lifted and were greeted with a glass of bubble to set the tone for the day.
We also had arranged for a local ice cream van to arrive, just in time for our mini Manchester heatwave.
