WOW Uplift Project – Week 10

Hi Lifted Family

How are we in week 10?

The WOW project leaders Emma Moo and Sam have truly set up home at Lifted during the Monday drop in sessions. We can’t thank them enough, they really have taken this project to the next level and we are all hearing amazing feedback about the team and the wonderful food they are making! Keep it up Emma and Sam!!

They are currently on week 10 of this amazing project, where women of Wythenshawe are catering for Lifted’s carers and making sure that they have access to a warm meal when they attend our events.

Over the last few weeks the team have cooked the following

  1. Mac n Cheese
  2. Rice Pudding
  3. Leak and Potatoes Soup
  4. Chilli
  5. Spaghetti Bolognese
  6. Tater Ash
  7. Chinese Curry

During one meal, they even had a drop in chef who came by to see the service and ended up staying to help cook and give some tips to them. (We are open for the chef to come by each week and cook for us, while we chat and learn more)

Next week we have arranged for a guest chef to come join us (One of very own carers is going to be cooking us all a home meal chicken with rice and peas west Indian style. Nom Nom I’m looking forward to this.

One thing that I don’t think many know is that, once the carers at Lifted have had their meal and have got any they wish to take home, Emma and Sam offer the extra food out to those who attend the food bank on a Monday at the dandelion to also come and have food with us. It’s what makes working the hub special, Lifted get to share with others and help out where we can.

Until next time, remember drop in is every Monday from 11am – 1pm
